Festivities for the Holidays in Town of Basalt


The Town of Basalt is pleased to be hosting a variety of family friendly events in December to celebrate the holiday season.

On December 1 from 4 – 6 p.m. a tree lighting celebration will take place at Triangle Park in Willits that includes visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, carolers, free horse drawn carriage rides and the Basalt High School Street Horns along with complimentary donuts, hot chocolate and other food and beverages.

On December 8 from 4 – 6 p.m. A Band Called Alexis takes the stage at Basalt River Park with a twist on your favorite holiday songs accompanied by a special light show that will illuminate the exterior of the bandshell.  There will be a petting zoo, visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus, complimentary donuts, hot chocolate, and other food and beverages.  

The Basalty Tree Pageant is a friendly competition starting December 1 where community members form teams and decorate a tree in Basalt River Park based on the theme “Holiday Movies.”  Teams can compete for prizes and the community will vote on their favorite tree in three categories including: originality and theme, overall attractiveness, and laugh out loud.  To apply to decorate a tree, visit www.basalt.net/holidays.  The community is invited to vote for their favorite trees via QR codes on each tree starting December 15.

The Town of Basalt encourages everyone to shop local and supports The Season of Small initiative by the Basalt Chamber of Commerce.
