2021 Basalt Chip Seal Projects - June 1-15

Update - Chip Seal Project Update 5/25/21- Weather on another job has pushed the chip seal contractor back about a week, they plan to start in the Industrial area and Willits Lane on Tuesday 6/1 and make their way over to East Basalt next week.

The Town of Basalt and its subcontractor GMCO LLC will be starting its street chip sealing project weather permitting on Tuesday June 1st and continue through June 15th.

The roads to be chip sealed on the Hillside District are Cedar Drive and Homestead Drive.   The Basalt Industrial Park will include Duroux Lane, Park Ave, Sunset Dr, Valley Circle, and a small section of Willits Lane.

After the chip is put down it will be rolled and then swept.  There will be some loose gravel until they come back the following week after the chip has set into the tack to do the final fog seal coat and will hand out another notice.  All dates are weather dependent because the tack and fog seal cannot go down on a wet surface.  On street parking will not be allowed during the project hours so no vehicles are sprayed with tack material while they are working on your street.   Access will be limited and there may be very short delays at times.  No roads or driveways will be completely closed at any time for more than 5 minutes as they are passing through.  Streets that have on-street parking will get notices two days ahead of time alerting of the work and asking to move vehicles- (any vehicles that are not moved will be towed at the owner’s expense).  Please make sure that no yard watering leaves your property, hits the street, or flows down the gutter during the project hours.

If there are any questions, please contact Matt Wagner with the Town of Basalt Public Works Department at 970-279-4469.  Chip sealing is a key maintenance operation to maintain the pavement surface for a relatively low cost.  By placing a chip seal, we can extend the life of the underlying pavement which results in the traveling public benefiting in a roadway that is in better condition for a longer duration.  Thank you very much for your patience and cooperation during this project.
