hometown Holiday 2021

Tree Lightings with Santa & Mrs Claus

Come join us to for the Town of Basalt’s annual tree lightings in Willits and Lions Park. After a year hiatus, Santa and Mrs. Claus are coming to Basalt to meet in person with Basalt area children in a safe manner while COVID is still in the valley. Children will not sit on Santa’s lap but will have an opportunity to briefly talk to Santa in person, hand in their detailed wish list and get a picture with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Please stay tuned as we refine our procedures. Children can bring their wish lists or create them at the event. Ways to Help Others this Holiday Season

• Colorado Gives Day

Two December Tuesdays are for giving with Giving Tuesday (www.GivingTuesday.org) on December 14 and Colorado Gives Day (www.ColoradoGives.org) on December 7, 2021. If you have the means, please consider giving to one of our many non-profits in this valley, especially those who have gone above and beyond during this past year. A full list of Basalt Chamber non-profit members can be found in their Directory (www.BasaltChamber.org).

• Food Bank of the Rockies

• Aspen Community Foundation

Contribute to one of the Aspen Community Foundation (ACF) causes. ACF is located in the Town of Basalt and helps individuals and families from Aspen to Parachute. More at: www.AspenCommunityFoundation.org

• Small Business Saturday and Keep it Local

Small is beautiful. November 27th is Small Business Saturday®. Help the Basalt Chamber celebrate and support small businesses and all they do for our community. The day is an opportunity to encourage others to #ShopSmall at all the local businesses we love. With the holiday season fast approaching, this is a great chance to support our neighbors, while keeping money in Basalt, instead of shopping at big box stores and online.

For every $100- you spend at local businesses, $68- will stay in the community. Independent businesses return more than three times as much money per dollar of sales to the community in which they operate than chain competitors. Small businesses employ 77 million Americans and account for 65% of all new jobs over the past 17 years. More information at: www.BasaltChamber.org
