Ruedi Reservoir Campground

Located approximately 14 miles east of Basalt, Colorado, in the White River National Forest, Ruedi Marina Campground is situated on Ruedi Reservoir at an elevation of 7,800 feet. Recreation facilities consist of 4 campgrounds accommodating 81 campsites and 2 boat-launching ramps. Sites at this campground open up to views of the reservoir and starry nighttime skies. A mixed conifer forest hems in the shoreline and nearby peaks offer an ideal setting for guests seeking recreation and relaxation. 40-foot maximum RV length. No hook ups available.

Directions - On the Fryingpan River about 15 miles east of Basalt.

Chapman Campground

Chapman Campground

Chapman Campground is located adjacent to the Fryingpan River, 29 miles East of Basalt. The campground is located in a beautiful setting at the base of a wide valley and is surrounded by, and filled with, lodgepole pine trees. Campsite for auto and trailer, pickup campers, motor homes and tents. There are 84 campsites with a 50-foot maximum RV length. No hook ups. Nature trail in campground. There is also a small reservoir located within the campground. (No motor boats) Water available from faucets in the main campground. Vault type toilets. Camping units have tables and benches, fire rings and parking spurs. Graveled campground roads.

Directions - From Basalt, take Frying Pan Road East for 29 miles.

Dearhamer Campground

Dearhamer is located at the far end of Ruedi at the inlet. There are 12 campsites plus a host site on the Fryingpan River. 35-foot maximum RV length. No hook ups available. Camping units for auto and trailer, pickup campers, motorhomes and tents. Water available from hydrant. Vault type toilet. Camping units have table and benches, fire ring and parking spur. Graveled campground road.

Directions - From Basalt, travel East on Frying Pan River Road for approximately 20 miles, just past Ruedi Reservoir to Dearhamer Campground.

Elk Wallow

This campground is most suited for guests looking for a quiet, relatively primitive setting. There are 7 campsites with no hook ups available. Camping units for autos, pickup campers, tents, and small trailers. One vault type toilet. Camping units have tables, fire rings, and parking spurs. Campground roads are not paved. Drinking water is not available. Fishing is possible in the North Fork Mormon Creek.

Directions - From Basalt, travel East on Frying Pan River Road for 24 miles, past Ruedi Reservoir. Take a left on Forest Service Road 501 and travel for 4 miles until you reach Elk Wallow Campground.

Twin Meadows

This beautiful camping site in the Hunter Frying Pan Wilderness area of the White River National Forest is easily accessible by a short, winding dirt road that leads off Frying Pan Road about 28 miles from Basalt. Mountains surround the multiple small lakes in the grassy meadow with a creek making a half circle around the area. No water, toilets, fire rings, or designated spots.

Directions - From Basalt, travel about 28 miles East on the Frying Pan Road and take a right at the Norrie Colony. Stay right and follow dirt road. You will cross a bridge and continue to a fork with a sign. Stay right to Twin Meadows.
