Mayor Jacque Whitsitt

Jacque was born and raised on the eastern plains of Colorado . She worked 17 years for AT&T before moving to the Roaring Fork Valley in 1987. From 1996-2007, she worked as Executive Director for the Colorado Association of Ski Towns while volunteering in both elected and non-profit positions in the valley. Her experience includes work on statewide legislative matters as well as higher education, transportation, regional governance and Latino issues. Between meetings she enjoys hiking, cycling and cross country skiing. She and Tim Whitsitt have been married for 20 years.

Councilor Rick Stevens


Rick has lived in the valley since 1976. He served as Mayor from 1994 to 2004. Rick is a ski instructor at Aspen Mountain and a Glenwood Springs Varsity Lacrosse coach. He also runs lacrosse camps here in Basalt. He has also served on the BACH (Basalt Affordable Community Housing) Board, volunteered as a soccer coach, and as citizen activist and participant in community affairs.


Councilor Rob Leavitt


Rob was born and raised in Western Massachusetts and graduated from Harvard University in 1987. He has been living in the Valley for twenty-four years: teaching alpine, telemark and adaptive skiing at Aspen Highlands and running his own general contractor business. In addition, he is a licensed real estate broker. Rob met his wife, Erika, who is from Boston, while coaching the Harvard rugby team and they have two daughters, Eden Tess (b. 2004) and Jordan (b. 2006.) He is the current board president of United Jewish Appeal Aspen Valley and loves biking in the Valley and fishing the rivers in Basalt.


Councilor Herschel Ross


Herschel grew up in Hollywood, California and received his BA at UCLA and DDS at University of the Pacific in San Fransisco. He has been practicing dentistry in the Roaring Fork Valley for 33 years and 10 years in Basalt. He was on the founding board for Food and Wine Classic, Snowmass Reperatory Theater, Rotary Club of Snowmass, Snowmass Business Association, on Board of RFTA, Aspen Community Theater, and Carbondale Rotary where he also served as President. He spent 4 years on Snowmass Village Town Council and 4 years as a Pitkin county Commissioner.
