Basalt Election Information

BASALT MUNICIPAL ELECTION – TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 2020

This is a brief draft of the election calendar.  Additional election dates and information to follow.


At this election, there will be 3 seats for council members and the Mayor to be voted on.  This will be a mail ballot election.  It is anticipated ballots will be mailed out March 16.

Terms are expiring for Mayor Jacque Whitsitt and Council members Auden Schendler, Katie Schwoerer and Jennifer Riffle.

The seats to be filled will serve an elected term of 4 years.

A Candidate Notebook will be available in the near future.  A brief rundown:  Council meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month.  In addition, Council members participate in various committees and represent the Town through other agencies such as RFTA, Basalt Emergency Management Committee, Basalt Childcare Coalition, Northwest Colorado Council of Governments (NWCCOG), etc. 

Something to consider:  The RE-1 School District spring break is from Mach 19 - March 27. Please plan to vote accordingly. 

Important Dates:

First day to circulate a nomination petition:  Tuesday, January 7

Last day to circulate a nomination petition:  Monday, January 27
