Recreation News

October 2019

Dorothy Howard has moved on to greener pastures. She has since retired and relocated to the Pacific North West. Dorothy has been a huge fixture in Basalt Recreation having been the face for 17 years. These will be big shoes to fill. The Town of Basalt wishes Dorothy the very best in Retirement. Thank You Dorothy!

I moved to the valley in Sept of 1998 and have resided in Glenwood Springs for the majority of 21 years. I have most of my experiences with Aquatics having worked at the Glenwood Hot Springs for 12 years as well as at the Town of Snowmass Village Recreation Center for 5. I most recently operated the Basalt Pool this past summer and really enjoyed my time there. What a great little Gem the pool is. You may have seen my wife and two girls, 5 and 8 years old, enjoying the pool on occasion. I accepted the position of Director just recently. I am excited to work with your children in engaging programs, create some new offerings, as well as get to know all Basalt has to offer. I have heard nothing but great things about the community of Coaches, Referees, Parents and Participants!  Please feel free to reach out to me with program ideas, comments and concerns, or just to introduce yourself.
Now let’s Play Ball!
